The globular, pealike galls of Pontania hastatae develop on the underside of the leafs of Salix hastata, S. hastata x waldsteiniana, and S. hastata spp. subalpina. P. hastatae occurs in North Europe and the alps. The surface of the yellowish-green or redish galls is coverd with small warts in North European populations, however, warts are missing in the alpine forms. Ref.: Kopelke 1990a |
