Gall of Andricus aestivalis

© Karsten Schönrogge

Only the bisexual generation of Andricus aestivalis is known. The gregarius galls resemble tiny roses. They develop on the axes of Quercus cerris catkins. Mature galls become dry and woody. They fall to the ground in autumn. A. aestivalis is a common species and present where the food plant is native.
