Eriosoma lanuginosa

The bladder-like galls of Eriosoma (= Schizoneura) lanuginosa are irregular in shape and thin walled. These 30-80 mm large leaf galls are induced by aphids. Young galls are green in colour, and becoming dry and dark when they mature. They can be found on elms (Ulmus campestris and Ulmus scabra) and are common and often abundant.
